Jess Minckley

Clinical Art Therapist

As a therapist, Jess takes a direct, compassionate, introspection-focused approach to psychotherapy, rooted in Adlerian Psychology. Their art therapy approach is rooted in intuitive, spiritual, attachment-focused relational therapy rooted in neuroscience. They also provide trauma treatment therapies including Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, EMDR, psychedelic preparation and integration, and somatic approaches.

Curran Hawkins  (Curry)

Curry Hawkins graduated from California Institute of Integral Studies with her MA in Counseling Psychology and a concentration in Expressive Art Therapy.

She is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) and works with Individuals, families and couples. 

Will DeSmitt

MA, APCC, ATR-P

Clinical Art Therapist

Will is a graduate of Southwestern College’s Art Therapy program. He is licensed in California and specializes in EMDR working with LGBTQ+ men, and group work.

Lady Advincula

Clinical Art Therapist

Lady is a graduate of the Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Art Therapy at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York. She is a Board Certified Registered Art Therapist℠ (ATR-BC ®) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in California. She is passionate about working with Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) individuals online or in person near the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Lady understands Filipino/Tagalog and many facets of Asian experience.

Clinical Interns

Sofia Nyberg, BA

she/they

Sofia is a delightful intern therapist attending the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. She has experience working with adults & children/teens. She can only see clients located in Washington, and does so via telehealth.

Sofia holds a bachelor degree in psychology, is an artist, and has experience working with survivors of sexual assault. She specializes in anxiety, self-worth, and self-esteem problems. She’s also open to working with those who have experienced systemic oppression, including LGBTQ+ individuals. She also runs our Therapeutic Art Group on Tuesday nights 7:30-9pm Pacific

Lauren Gray

Billing

Lauren (she/her) helps behind the scenes with billing, payments, and insurance matters for our clinical clientele. If you need to verify your insurance benefits or receive statements, she is who you will speak to.

Lauren Johnson

Intern

Lauren (she/her) is an inquisitive, hungry Bachelor degree candidate in Psychology at Seattle Central College. Lauren helps us understand the needs and curiosities of future counselors & clients of art therapy through her art-making & presence.

Dorinda Mensah

Intern

Dorinda (she/her) is a future art therapist and undergraduate intern at Seattle Central College. She supports the executive director and mission of ATFA using her strengths of reflection and organization. She also serves on ATFA’s board.

Alanna O’Neill

Administrative Support

Alanna (they/them) is our Person Friday. Their Virgo energy keeps ATFA running from bookkeeping to scheduling to research and administrative tasks. We are very excited to have them in our midst.

Ginny Cook

Bookkeeping

Ginny (she/her) holds an MFA from CalArts & is our bookkeeper / general art friend. She is a career artist and co-editor at Material Press, which was a publication of artist’s writing, for many lovely years.

Delany Davis

Executive Assistant

Delany (she/her) is a career filmmaker and Executive Assistant at ATFA. She works behind the scenes on projects large and small. We are very lucky to have her production help on our podcast and online videos.

Volunteers

Sophie Lee, MFA, MA

she/her

Sophie is a working fine artist. She’s also an associate therapist in California with a graduate degree from Antioch University and an MFA in fine art from UC Irvine. She is learning about art therapy and is interested in using art in therapy ethically. She attends to groups of people, including children, at our community art-making events.
